ChurchWorks 2008

ChurchWorks 2008, the annual training event for B.C. Mennonite Brethren church workers focused on communication this year. The day-long set of classes at Abbotsford’s Columbia Bible College campus Feb. 27 was meant for salaried and lay workers and addressed employment law, fundraising, governance, and office organization. The emphasis was on how churches communicate, both internally and externally. The featured presenter was Scott Vaughan, a consultant who specializes in church organization.

Jericho Ridge sends missionaries

One of B.C.’s newest MB churches has sent its first missionary couple to the field. Jericho Ridge Community Church, Langley, commissioned Junghoon and Pearl Lim, who have attended JRCC since its inception, to serve in Malaysia. They will serve with Wycliffe in Bible translation.

Stillwood award

B.C.’s largest MB camp has won a national award. The Canadian Camping Association presented the Award of Excellence to Stillwood Camp and Conference Centre on Feb. 5. “Stillwood’s example has been one of leadership that has given many others the strength to find and/or discover their vision for camping,” they said.

It is the third time a camp has won the award since its inception in 1978, which is usually presented to individuals.
