Sharon Koop has been hired as part-time worship and special events minister at Faith River Christian Fellowship, Saskatoon, where she and her husband Fred have been part of the congregation since the church was planted. They have two children, Dana (10) and Lauren (7).

Effective mid-December, Mark Johnson resigned from his role as Ontario Provincial Conference Minister in order to live out his faith in the marketplace and work outside the church. Mark came to the position in 2001 and was pivotal in helping the province create its new mission statement and core values in 2007.



The International Community of Mennonite Brethren (ICOMB) appointed Dalton Reimer as educational facilitator following their higher education consultation in July. Reimer’s main tasks will be to work on the “incarnation” of the findings committee document and develop strategies to enhance MB global relatedness in the area of education.

Port Rowan (Ont.) MB Church affirmed Paul Robinson as senior pastor in December. He previously served on an interim basis, and has now begun an initial 3-year term.

Amanda Baese resigned as youth pastor of Port Rowan (Ont.) MB Church after serving 3 1/2 years. She accepted the challenge of becoming an instant mother to three children when she married widower Keith Cameron in December.

Communauté Chrétienne Internationale de Montréal, the first church plant under Rendez-Vous Montreal, recently closed its doors after nearly five years of ministry under the leadership of Jean-Calvin Kitata. Jean-Calvin and his wife, Elysee will continue to live in Montreal, where Jean-Calvin works part-time with MCC-Québec.

Dave and Heidi Gray concluded their ministry in Montreal Dec. 31 after nearly five years with Rendez-Vous Montreal, which included opening a Ten Thousand Villages store, community outreach, and efforts to establish a church plant called Journey Fellowship. The store will continue, while the church and community outreach will be discontinued. The Grays will move back to Fresno, Cal., where Heidi will attend seminary. Dave is open to further ministry and/or teaching opportunities.



Al Stobbe is now serving as missionary coordinator with MBMSI International after 11 years as associate pastor at Ross Road MB Church, Abbotsford, B.C. Al and his wife Karen served with MBMSI as missionaries in Austria from 1990–1996.



Mike Reimer assumed the role of director at Camp Crossroads in Torrance, Ont. on Oct. 1. Mike comes to the assignment with experience in Christian camping and other ministries. He is married to Danielle.



In December, Mennonite Central Committee appointed Philip H. Rush as resource generation network director to lead the organization’s fundraising work in Canada and the U.S. Rush is an associate professor at Goshen College and a former regional director for development at Eastern Mennonite University. Rush served with MCC from 1991–1993 as an English teacher in China and from 1995–1997 as assistant director of the China Educational Exchange program. Rush and his wife Karen are members of Eighth Street Mennonite Church in Goshen, Ind.
