Jean Bieri, editor of the MB conference’s French language magazine Le Lien, spent a week sweating through the oppressive heat of Haitian towns, training pastors and students. The visit was an opening collaborative effort between the Church of Jesus-Christ Full Gospel in Haiti, and the École de Théologie Évangelique de Montréal (ETEM). “UN soldiers were patrolling Port au Prince as I arrived. After speaking to a group of ministers on listening to God and his people, I thought that was going to be it, but the next day I presented another four-hour lecture on the life and work of the apostle Paul. I also preached several times throughout the week.” Over eight days, 1,500 people met for worship and teaching. “I particularly appreciated the zeal and enthusiasm of the Christians of this church in their material tasks such as cooking and cleaning – but also in the spiritual activities,” said Bieri, who found the heat more harrowing than the possibility of getting kidnapped. “This could open future collaboration with ETEM,” said Bieri, who teaches in the Montreal seminary. —with files from Jean Bieri
