Earl Davey was named vice president academic at Canadian Mennonite University, Winnipeg, and will provide leadership for academic projects, programs, policies, and personnel. Davey, who presently is provost and vice president academic at Tyndale University College and Seminary, Toronto, will begin his assignment in July 2008. “Earl has established a reputation as a professor, choral conductor, and academic administrator, and is strongly committed to the church,” said CMU president Gerald Gerbrandt. Davey is a member of Richmond Park MB Church, Brandon, Man. and is married to Marion.
Daniel Beutler began serving as lead pastor at Linden (Alta.) MB Church Aug. 1. Daniel previously served in Linden as pastor of congregational life. Daniel and his wife Maureen have two children, Debbie and Sam.
Gary Burke began serving as associate pastor at Linden (Alta.) MB Church on Sept. 15. Gary and his wife Beverly have been serving with Venture Teams International for the past 4 years in the area of recruitment.
On September 9, Eagle Ridge Bible Fellowship, Coquitlam, B.C., confirmed Melanie Klassen as director of children’s ministries after she had served a one-year probationary term in the position. Melanie previously worked in the field of early childhood education.
Lorne Pearson resigned as lead pastor of Eastview Community Church, Winnipeg, in September. He and his wife, Jennifer, are open to future ministry opportunities.
Dalhousie Community Church, Calgary, commissioned 2 new pastors Sept. 16. Tom Mulhern (left) will serve as youth pastor. Previously he was youth pastor at New Valley Church in Chandler, Ariz. Tom and Malora have one son, Noah (3). Harold Amstutz (right) will serve as associate pastor of family ministries. He comes with 20 years of ministry experience, most recently as pastor of adult ministries and worship at Laurelwood Baptist Church in Vancouver, Wash. Harold and Lori have 3 children, Sean, Tammy, and Kenton.
