On Apr. 22, Linden (Alta.) MB Church commissioned Jessica Richards for full-time missionary service in Thailand with Mennonite Brethren Mission and Service International (MBMSI). She will be in Lop Buri studying the Thai language for the first year and praying for God’s direction about where to go within the country after that time.

Delores Friesen, instructor in pastoral counselling at MB Biblical Seminary, Fresno, Cal., was promoted to full professor by the board of directors during their spring meeting. “Delores has been a pioneer in our counselling program, in ministry in world mission, in practicing justice for AIDS victims, and in encouraging women to give church leadership,” says academic dean Lynn Jost.

Lorraine Dick is currently serving as interim pastor at Lendrum MB Church, Edmonton. Lorraine comes to Lendrum from her role as associate pastor at South Langley (B.C.) MB Church and will be handling the transition period while the church searches for a new lead pastor.

In August, Konrad Loewen will begin ministry as lead pastor at Westside Community Church in Morden, Man. Konrad recently resigned from Linden (Alta.) MB Church after 9 years of ministry. He is a graduate of Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary, Fresno, Cal. Konrad and Karen have 2 children, Samantha and Mackenzie.

Effective June 1, Ajax (Ont.) Community Church changed its name to Clarington Community Church.

After a year-long immigration process, MBMSI missionary Kevin Hamm arrived in Winnipeg Apr. 15 with his wife Lena and daughters Sonia, Maya, and Deena. Kevin first travelled to Russia in 1993 to help facilitate Christian camping and returned every summer. Eight years ago he married his translator and settled in St. Petersburg. The family is living in Portage La Prairie while deciding on a more permanent location and vocation.
