Kudos to readers of the Herald! Our letters section finished first in its category at the recent Canadian Church Press awards banquet in Toronto. The judge said that these letters “indicate that readers regard the Herald as a trusted and serious forum for Christian debate. Remarkable! A delightful read.”
In fact, it was a good year for all the Herald family, as we were honoured with a total of nine awards: six at CCP, and three at the Evangelical Press Association convention in Colorado Springs. Both events recognized excellence in Christian magazine publishing for 2006. God is indeed working through the members of our MB family, blessing us with gifts of creativity, wisdom, and communication.
Congratulations to:
- Lorie and Ralph Mayer for their cover, “Masculine spirituality” (1st, CCP; 4th, EPA).
- Pierre Gilbert for his biblical interpretation, “Welcome to the complex life: A reflection on the book of Daniel” (1st, CCP).
- Herald readers for their “Letters to the editor” (1st, CCP).
- Dora Dueck for her interview article, “Access, risk, breaking patterns: An interview with Leighton Tebay” (2nd, EPA).
- Brian Wiebe for his feature article, “Surviving pastoral burnout” (3rd, CCP).
- Derek Van Nes for his opinion piece, “What happened to the real man Jesus?” (3rd, CCP).
