California MBs assist with citrus freeze

Previous | Next

Food distribution centres were set up at five MB churches in and around Fresno after freezing weather devastated the citrus crop in California’s San Joaquin Valley. Although media attention has died away, Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) and the churches are continuing to provide necessities of life for some 350 families, with the help of a $15,000 grant from MDS’s binational office in Akron, Pa. Many of those who hand pick or pack the oranges were thrown out of work.
