God’s gift or Satan’s tool?
Board of Faith and Life plans study conference on culture |

Is culture a gift of God, or a tool of Satan? Should it be shunned or embraced, feared or domesticated? Is it a power that “simply is,” subservient to Christ’s supremacy and God’s providential sovereignty? Can Mennonite Brethren claim to have a workable theology of culture? Will our participation in the mission of God be hampered or enhanced by our predisposition towards culture?
These and other questions will be addressed at a study conference called “Culture, Gospel, and Church,” sponsored by the Canadian MB Board of Faith and Life, to be held October 11–13, 2007 at Bakerview MB Church, Abbotsford, B.C. The plenary speaker will be George Hunsberger, contributing author in the Gospel and Our Culture Network (GOCN) conversation. Bible study sessions on the topics as well as workshops dealing with practical ministry concerns are planned.
All are invited to participate so we can think and act Christianly about the gospel and church in our day.
