Listen Up, the weekly, half-hour television show that explores current news from a Christian worldview, reached a broadcast milestone with its 300th episode in January. Hosted by Lorna Dueck, Listen Up began as a weekly feature of 100 Huntley Street in 1998, first aired as a stand-alone production in 2003, and is currently carried by seven networks with 8,000 stations worldwide.
Northview Community Church’s recording, “God is Our Refuge,” from the 2004 live album “Hear From Heaven,” has been released on a global worship compilation CD by Integrity Music (USA) entitled “Cover the Earth” (Global Worship Now Independent film producer Otto Klassen, 80, of Winnipeg, who has produced 51 films on Mennonite history, has given limited rights to his latest production, “Remembering Russia 1914–1927,” to MCC. Proceeds from admission fees to public showings and offerings will support the work of the relief and development agency. “Writing Canada: Telling Stories With Soul” is the theme of Canada’s largest Christian writers’ conference, Write! Canada, to be held June 14–16 in Guelph, Ont. Plenary speaker will be novelist Rudy Wiebe, whose most recent book is the memoir, Of This Earth: A Mennonite Boyhood in the Boreal Forest. Christian musician Steve Bell visited Ethiopia in January to explore the anti-hunger work of Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFB) there. A short documentary as well as a music video filmed during the visit will be available through CFB and Signpost Music.
