Faith River Christian Fellowship in Saskatoon held their chartering service Sept. 25, 2005, with 62 charter members (left). The congregation is a “daughter” church plant of West Portal Church, with pastor Andrew (Helen) Fehr, located in southeast Saskatoon. They have purchased their own building, a former Lutheran Brethren church, and are enjoying steady growth.
Mark Hildebrand concluded 3 years of ministry as part-time youth pastor at Northwest Community Church, Meadow Lake, Sask. Mark and his wife Michelle are employed in Meadow Lake and continue to serve as volunteers in the church.
Ray Ulriksen retired at the end of October, after serving as lead pastor at Kelstern Community Church, Hodgeville, Sask. for 5 years. Ray and his wife Iris are moving to Abbotsford, B.C. to enjoy retirement.
Paul Dyck ended his ministry as executive pastor at Central Heights Church, Abbotsford, B.C. in August, to join MBMSI.
On Sept. 10, Glen Embree began as pastor at Alderbrook Community Church, Abbotsford, B.C. Previously, he served as executive pastor in Phoenix, Ariz. and Las Vegas, Nev. Glen and Cheryl have 4 children, Cynthia (17), Gregg (15), Derek (12), and Jared (8).
Brian Cooper joined Northside Community Church, Mission, B.C., Sept. 1, as pastor of family ministries. He recently completed a PhD in theological ethics at the Toronto School of Theology. Brian and his wife Connie have 2 children, Nicole (5) and Austin (3), whom they are homeschooling.
Hyde Creek Church, Port Coquitlam, B.C. welcomed Gord Stock as part-time community impact pastor on Oct. 1. Gord worked as a high school teacher in Fort St. John, B.C. for 13 years, and as a youth pastor in Rocky Mountain House, Alta. for 3. His recent plans to join MBMSI staff changed after he experienced serious illness. He is married to Ruth, a nurse. They have 3 grown children.
On Oct. 1, Ryan Cardinal became youth pastor at Valleyview Bible Church, Kamloops, B.C. Ryan previously served as the junior staff director at Gardom Lake Bible Camp. He is working on his youth ministry degree from Briercrest College, Caronport, Sask.
Helmut Isaak is the new pastor of Hays (Alta.) Gospel Chapel as of Sept. 1. He comes to the position with 26 years experience, having served churches in B.C. and Germany. Most recently he taught Anabaptist history and theology in Paraguay. He married Eve in January, after both lost spouses to long-term illness. Eve has a degree in pastoral ministry and serves with MCC as a community worker. They have 4 children.
