Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) executive director, Robb Davis, resigned his post as director of the agency Oct. 23, after nearly one year-and-a-half on the job. Davis requested that his resignation be effective immediately.

He previously served as a senior vice-president for Freedom from Hunger in Davis, Cal.

The executive committee named Lowell Detweiler, long-time MCC staff member (currently interim director of the human resources department) and former director of Mennonite Disaster Service (1986–1998) as acting executive director.

The MCC executive committee also asked MCC staff to continue moving forward on key initiatives Davis had begun work on, such as changes in the MCC governance structure, network facilitation, international program initiatives, a salary review, and human resources initiatives.

MCC’s announcement of the resignation did not include Davis’ reasons, but Ron Dueck, chair of MCC’s executive committee told the Herald it was not related to “personal reasons or wrongdoing.”
