All missionaries on the MB Mission and Service International team in Thailand are safe, following that country’s coup d’etat on Sept. 19. That event, in which the military took over the country with the permission of the king, while Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was in New York at the UN General Assembly, occurred without violence.
Paul Dyck, responsible for MBMSI member care, writes, “We are asking you to pray that God would use this situation to open doors to share his good news with the Thai people. Pray for justice and peace to win over pride and violence. . . . Pray for the new leadership, that they would continue to show favour to foreigners and support our programs.”
“God has a beautiful way of turning something uncertain into something good for his glory!” Dyck says. “May he continue to open people’s minds and hearts to his peace-filled message of hope.”
