Second Wife: Stories and Wisdom from Women Who Have Married Widowers. Martha Denlinger Stahl. Good Books, 2005.
Martha Denlinger Stahl draws on her experience as a 40s-something single woman marrying a widower, as well as input from other second wives, to provide wisdom for a step that many second wives, assumed to be “older and wiser,” do not prepare for well enough. The unique challenges of second marriages she addresses (informally, and with stories) include courtship, comparisons to the first wife, children and stepchildren, age differences, money, and burial.

God with Us Today: Devotions for Families. June Galle Krehbiel. Faith and Life Resources, 2006.
The author of 101 Devotionals with Children (Herald Press, 1999) has crafted another 100 devotions for family use. Designed to take about 10 minutes, these short Scripture-based devotions are a skillful mix of story and learning, accompanied by questions, bits of poetry or song, fun facts, prayers, and more. Different frames and pockets for each day’s words add to the appeal, especially for kids who are visual learners. Highly recommended.
