Crisis in the Middle East

Previous | Next

Mennonite Central Committee is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East. For the most current updates, as well as podcast interviews with MCC staff in the region, see MCC News & EventsOutside link.

MCC is also accepting donations for aid to the region. “A long-term humanitarian crisis is inevitable,” says Rick Janzen, director of MCC’s programs in the Middle East.

Ken and Kathryn Seitz, MCC workers in Lebanon since 2004, were safely evacuated from the country July 20. Another MCC worker, Bassam Chamoun, and his family fled their village in southern Lebanon for the relative safety of Beirut. He will be coordinating MCC’s emergency response for displaced people.
