"what you took from me" by trevor wight

“what you took from me” by trevor wight

Creativity is at the very core of our being. God created humans with the ability to be creative ourselves. Therefore, to imagine and ultimately create something – a piece of art, music, or drama – is to endeavour to God’s very likeness. Because of my faith, I trust that God works through me; that he provides the imagination; that the very act of creating something comes from and is glorifying to him.

My work is made from a combination of photo-based silkscreen and abstract painting. I combine these two elements in an effort to connect with the viewer on an emotional rather than literal level, and to ultimately respond to my experiences in life. The backdrop of abstract painting is meant to enhance the qualities of the metaphorical images. Conversely, the images provide an entry point for the viewer to enter into the emotion of the abstract painting.
