"among 1" by sharon huget

“among 1” by sharon huget

I am captivated by those moments in life when, fully alive and awake, an experience points well beyond what can be seen with the eye or articulated with words. This has led me to experimental and semi-abstract painting. Colour, texture, and an attentive imagination explore the interception of human experience with what is unknown.

As I paint and work with mixed media, I find the images or abstract themes that emerge inform me of something deeper than what words could express. The process of painting prepares the way for me to receive insight and embrace it visually on canvas. God, present with me, participates in ways that are beyond what I understand.

These transcendent moments become the narrative of the composition. Themes of breath, darkness, light, resurrection, and presence emerge on the surface of the canvas in surprising ways. Painting with openness and vulnerability, I find the images that emerge inform me of deeper truths, allowing me to receive and share the gifts of my calling. My paintings form a visual journal of my interaction with divine presence.
