Tony Martens, pastor of the Borden (Sask.) MB Church, was ordained Apr. 2. Joining the congregation for the service were provincial conference minister Ralph Gliege, pastors Terry Froese and Clarence Peters, and many friends and relatives.
The Flin Flon (Man.) MB Church has a new name: Cornerstone Community Church.
Columbia Bible College, Abbotsford, has a new vice-president for student development. Stan Bahnman began in the post April 10. Most recently, Stan was site supervisor at Community Employment Resource Centre and Youth Employment Zone/MYERT Corps. Prior to that, he pastored at Crossroads Community and Greendale MB Churches in Chilliwack, B.C. He has an MA in Religious Education from ACTS Seminary, majoring in marriage and family. He and Wendy have two young daughters, Chelsea and Morgan.
As of Jan. 1, Ron Friesen is full-time youth work director at Columbia Bible College, Abbotsford. He began to move into the position on a part-time basis last October, from his role as student ministry pastor at Northview Community Church. He has been in youth ministry for 25 years, and at Northview since 1999. Ron has an MA in youth ministry from Trinity Divinity School. He and Nancy have 4 children: Cody, 14, Luke, 13, and Janaya and Mikayala, 11.
Doug and Naomi Enns have completed their ministry as lead pastor at McIvor Ave. MB Church, Winnipeg, after serving since fall 2000. Interim pastor of the church is Gerry Hildebrand.
After 8 years ministry, Mark Jantzen has resigned as lead pastor at Dalhousie Community Church, Calgary, effective June 30. Mark and Sylvia plan to teach English overseas for the coming year.
Also at Dalhousie, Shelley Wiebe is joining the staff as part-time Kids Church coordinator. She and Jason have been part of Dalhousie Community Church for some time; they have 2 sons, Christian and Brock.
