MCC provides aid in Darfur

Darfur region, Sudan

Previous | Next

Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) continues to provide food and blankets to people displaced by the violent conflict in western Sudan’s Darfur region. The response has totalled more than $6.1 million Cdn. over the last two years.

MCC is coordinating the shipment of yellow split peas and wheat, provided by Canadian Foodgrains Bank, and has collected and is distributing 81,755 blankets. It has financially supported the Sudan Council of Churches in distributing blankets and constructing eight schools and 500 shelters, as well as providing relief supplies and milk powder to camps for Darfur refugees in Chad.
