Walk With Me South of the Equator

Sarah Peters. Self-published, 2005. 244 pages.

Sarah Peter belongs to that stalwart band of single women missionaries who have made such a significant contribution to the Mennonite Brethren missionary enterprise. She served in the Democratic Republic of Congo as a nurse, midwife, and instructor in the Kajiji Nursing Institute and the Kikwit Bible School from 1956 to 1989 (with some years between in Canada). She draws from her diary and letters home for an informal, open recounting of many details of her ministry, Congolese friends, and God’s shaping work in her life. Her desire that her life be a “sacrifice of praise to God” (Hebrews 13:15) animates these pages. The book is available through Westside Community Church, 831 Thornhill St., Morden, Man. R6M 1J8 for $15; proceeds go for Bibles in DR Congo.
