Winnifred (Freda) Helena Wiebe
Freda Wiebe died peacefully in her sleep Feb. 24. She was born Oct. 7, 1922 in Brixham, England to Albert and Victoria Gamble. On Oct. 17, 1942 she married Canadian soldier Vic Wiebe, whom she met while singing at Brixham Baptist Chapel. She and their 18-month-old son joined Vic in Canada in 1946, travelling with other war brides on the Aquitania. After Freda’s arrival in her new country, the family lived near Yarrow, B.C. before moving to a dairy farm in Arnold. As their children moved to homes of their own, Freda and Vic sold the farm. Freda had a strong Christian faith, and enjoyed singing and playing the organ at Abbotsford Presbyterian Church. Upon moving to Central Heights MB Church, she was active in Sunday school classes, Ladies Open Door Fellowship, and Jubilee Singers. Predeceased by husband Victor; 1 brother; 1 grandson; 1 great-grandson; she is mourned by children Wayne (Arlene), Victor (Eren), Valerie (Kip) Miller, Kathi Farquhar, Larry, Sheila, Duane (Jeannie), and Bryan; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 brother. The funeral was Mar. 2 at Central Heights MB Church, Abbotsford, B.C.
Friedrun Dick

Friedrun Dick died Feb. 16. She was born Mar. 18, 1955 in Winnipeg to Rudolf and Marta Reichert. When she was 9, the family moved to Switzerland and then Germany where her father worked for various Christian organizations. At 13, upon confession of her faith, Friedrun was baptized in a Baptist church. She had a wonderful voice and loved music, singing with a group of other talented young people and touring across Germany. After high school, Friedrun completed a degree in social work, focusing on working with children. She married David Dick in August 1983. Friedrun unwaveringly supported her husband during his years in ministry, and spent the last few years working as a teacher’s assistant with the Abbotsford (B.C.) School District. She saw humour in everything, despite difficult life experiences. She was known for her fabulous meals and baking, and her talents in crafts and knitting. She is mourned by David; children Philip, Christopher, and Julia; mother Marta; 3 brothers. The celebration of life was Feb. 18 in Abbotsford, B.C.
Ernest Schroeder
Ernest Schroeder died Jan. 19. He was born Aug. 17, 1921 to Wilhelm and Susie Schroeder, and grew up on the family farm west of Drake, Sask. He attained his education at the Kansas and Poplar Hills County schools. Sunday school and church were important to him. He accepted Christ as his Saviour and was baptized at 17 at the North Star Country Church. On Oct. 12, 1929, he married Margaret Krell. Predeceased by 2 brothers; 2 sisters; he is mourned by Margaret; son Norman (Jackie); daughter Joyce (Gerald) Voth; 5 grandchildren. The celebration of life service was Jan. 25 at West Portal MB Church, Saskatoon.
Selma Siebert

Selma Siebert died Feb. 13. She was born Apr. 21, 1929 in Laird, Sask. to John and Katherine Siebert. In May 1940, the family moved to B.C. and settled in the Chilliwack area. At school, Selma excelled in secretarial and sewing classes. She was baptized June 1, 1947, joining the Greendale MB Church. After graduation, Selma moved to Vancouver where she worked in a bank, then became receptionist for an ophthalmologist. In 1949, Selma began a 35-year career as a medical office assistant for Dr. Miller, who often referred to her as his “right hand man.” She was a member of Fraserview MB Church, Richmond, B.C. where she sang in the choir and worked in the library. She loved singing, reading, knitting, collecting stamps, and taking short trips with her friends. She also loved to “pull things together” for family weddings. After retiring in 1985, she moved to a care home. Predeceased by 1 brother; she is mourned by brother John (Rose); sister Frieda (Peter) Nickel; nieces, nephews and their families. The memorial service was Feb. 25 at Greendale MB Church.
Susan Friesen
Susan Friesen died peacefully Feb. 16 after a long struggle. She was born Apr. 30, 1928 in Hochfeldt, Sask. to William and Maria Wall. She became a Christian as a young girl and was baptized upon confession of her faith in Hague, Sask. She married Peter J. Friesen Aug. 16, 1953. They began their life together in Saskatoon where their first 3 children were born. In 1962, they moved to Dalmeny where 2 more children were added. In 1991, the couple moved to Saskatoon due to Susan’s fragile health. Nahum 1:7 helped her through many physical needs: “The Lord is good, a refuge in time of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.” Predeceased by 2 brothers; 1 sister; she is mourned by Peter; children Delmer (Clare), Ran (Nancy), Cindy (Don) Kornelson, Sharon (Garth) Loeppky, Nelda (Ian) Mercer; 9 grandchildren; 1 brother; 3 sisters. The celebration of life service was Feb. 20 at West Portal MB Church, Saskatoon.
Elizabeth Fedrau

Elizabeth Fedrau died Jan. 12 at age 105. She was born Jan. 6, 1901 in Krassikov, Russia to Gerhard and Justina Fast. Her father died when Elizabeth was 5. She married Wilhelm Fedrau in 1921. Elizabeth was baptized in 1924 and joined the MB church in Lugowsk, Russia. The family immigrated to Canada in 1926, farming in southern Manitoba and joining the Griswold MB Church. Elizabeth found ways to help and improve the farm by milking, feeding poultry, and raising sheep. In 1947, the family moved to Sardis, B.C. and bought a dairy farm. Elizabeth enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, writing poetry, taking long car trips, and playing the electric organ. She sang in the King Road MB Church choir and served as a custodian there. In 1991, Elizabeth moved to a care home where she enjoyed taking part in Bible studies, church services, and music programs. Predeceased by Wilhelm in 1982, she is mourned by son Bill (Susan); 4 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. The memorial service was Jan. 18 at Menno Home chapel, Abbotsford, B.C.
