Martens contributes to second commentary

Previous | Next

Elmer A. Martens, president emeritus and professor emeritus of Old Testament at MB Biblical Seminary, has written commentary on the biblical text of Jeremiah and Lamentations for Cornerstone Biblical Commentary, published by Tyndale House Publishers.

In addition, Martens’ 1986 commentary on Jeremiah for the Believers Church Bible Commentary series has just been reprinted.

The 600-page Cornerstone volume, which includes the text of the New Living Translation (NLT), also features Larry L. Walker of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary writing on Isaiah. Martens was part of the NLT translation team for Jeremiah.

The publishers project 18 volumes for the series. The Isaiah–Jeremiah–Lamentations commentary (Vol. 8) is the first to be published.

This past January, Martens taught the book of Jeremiah at the Asian Theological Seminary in Manila, Philippines. From 1984 to 2004, he served as Old Testament editor for the Believers Church Bible Commentary series. His other books include God’s Design, which has been translated into Russian and Korean.
