Erna Tina Heinrichs
Erna Heinrichs died Oct. 12 in a vehicle accident. She was born to Aron and Tina Wiebe on July 20, 1930 in Beaverlodge, Alta. Her family moved to B.C. in 1947. Erna came to know the Lord at an early age and was baptized in 1947. She married George Heinrichs in 1961 and they settled in Yarrow. Erna was involved in many areas of her church and community, loved to travel, and volunteered with several organizations including MCC and Teen Challenge. A highlight was the precious time she spent with her grandchildren. Predeceased by 5 siblings, she is survived by George; sons Wes and Gerald (Shari); 4 grandchildren; 4 siblings. The memorial service was Oct. 18 at Yarrow (B.C.) MB Church.
Frank Henry “F.H.” Friesen

Frank H. Friesen died peacefully Aug. 8 at 103. He was born to Heinrich and Anna Friesen July 26, 1902 in a small Russian village. He was baptized upon profession of faith in 1920. Due to increasing political and economic turmoil, he immigrated to Canada in 1924, settling in Manitoba. In 1929, he married Agnes Unger and the couple moved to Morden, Man., where he established a fuel and lumber business. After Agnes’ death in 1974, Frank married Tina Reimer. He had a profound commitment to his faith and community, and was a founding member of Westside Community Church (Man.), leading it for 25 years. He served on many church and educational institution boards. He spearheaded the development of a senior citizens’ home in Morden before it became fashionable, so it seemed right that Frank spent his last 9 years in the very home he championed. Predeceased by wives Agnes and Tina; 1 son; he is mourned by sons Frank, David (Elsie), Henry (Joyce) and John (Ingrid); stepchildren David (Esther), Bert (Evelyn), Neil (Margaret), Alvin (Frances) and Irene (Howard); 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral was Aug. 11 at Westside Community Church.
Lawrence I. Neufeld

Lawrence Neufeld died Sept 24. He was born Sept. 23, 1909 to Isaac and Aganetha Neufeldt near Waldheim, Sask. The early death of his mother made a significant impact on him, but Lawrence grew to appreciate his step-mother. At 20, Lawrence’s cousin led him to faith in Jesus Christ. In 1930 he was baptized and joined the Waldheim MB Church. In April 1935 he married the love of his life, Anna Schultz. Lawrence was an innovative and progressive farmer, keenly interested in experimenting with new crops and methods of cultivation. He had a deep and enduring faith in God that found expression in practical ways. He was active in his church as a board member and he also served on the board of directors at Bethany Bible Institute. He prayed faithfully for missionaries, gave generously and wrote them regularly to express his encouragement. Predeceased by 1 brother; 2 sisters; he is mourned by Ann; children Myrl (Merv) Driedger, Deanna (Jim) Peters and Wendell (Penny) Neufeld; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. The funeral was at Waldheim MB Church.
Jake Teichrob
Jake Teichrob died Aug. 19 after a battle with Huntington’s disease. He was born Jan. 5, 1929 in Morden, Man. to David and Mary Teichrob. At 10, Jake initiated his life of faith, making a personal commitment to Christ. His family moved to Abbotsford in 1945. At 20, Jake met his soulmate, Tena Klassen, and they were married 3 years later. Jake was a deacon at East Chilliwack MB Church, a Boys Brigade leader and a volunteer with M2 Prison Ministries. He shared everything he owned, such as vehicles, gasoline and farm equipment, with anyone who happened upon his doorstep. After Tena’s death in 1993, he once again found companionship and married Tina Funk. Jake will be remembered for his great sense of humour and patience. Predeceased by Tena; 2 brothers; 1 sister; he is mourned by Tina; children Gary (Elaine), Janice (Angus) MacKay, Elaine (Jeff) Cooper and Tim (Joanne); 8 grandchildren; 2 brothers. The memorial service was Aug. 24 at Central Heights MB Church, Abbotsford.
Maria Minnie Wiens
Minnie Wiens died suddenly Oct. 22. She was born Sept. 2, 1911 in Winkler, Man. to Johan G. and Katharina Wiebe. In 1932, she married David Wiens. After her husband’s sudden death in 1935, she moved back home with her parents. Minnie worked as a house painter and then as a cook at Winkler Bible School. She volunteered and kept busy making socks, mitts, blankets and braided rugs. She was also a prizewinning baker and canner. Minnie loved to help the less fortunate and supported charities such as MCC, the Red Cross and the Canadian Cancer Society. Predeceased by her husband; son David; she is mourned by sister Hilda (Dan) Hildebrand; brother Bill (Margaret); 1 daughter-in-law; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.
Sally Unruh
Sally Unruh died Sept. 10. She was born Jan. 12, 1923 to Peter and Maria Loewen in Didsbury, Alta. In 1952 she married Henry Bergen and they farmed at Vauxhall until 1964. After Henry’s death, she marred Henry Unruh. Sally moved to Taber in 2001, residing at Taber Continuing Care. She is mourned by Henry; son Harley (Lisa) Bergen; daughter Norma (Ernie) Peters; 9 step-children; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. The funeral was Sept. 14 at Vauxhall (Alta.) MB Church.
Martha Klassen
Martha Klassen died Sept. 18 at age 81. She was born in Belmont, Man. to Abram and Sarah Hildebrand. Predeceased by husband John in 1988; 2 sisters; she is mourned by sisters Sarah (Jacob P.) Wiebe, Lydia (Alvin) Klatt and Anne (Jim) Skinner; brothers Abe, Dan (Eleanor), Jim (Betty) and Jack (Kay); brother-in-law Glen Engel. The funeral was Sept. 23 at Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden, Man.
Helena Hiebert
Helena Hiebert died in September at age 105. She was born Dec. 9, 1899 to Johan and Susanna Schroeder in Grossweide, Man. She was a hard-working, industrious woman and by 10, she was already serving as a domestic helper for her neighbours. One of the highlights of her youth was her conversion and baptism. Helena was a member of the MB church for over 87 years. In Oct. 1918, Helena married John Hiebert and spent many years supporting her husband on their family farm by raising a family, milking cows, stooking grain sheaves, pitching hay, planting gardens, tending an orchard, and assisting in bookkeeping. She enjoyed working in the kitchen at Winkler Bible Camp, reading, reciting Bible verses, and praying for her family. Predeceased by John in 1972; 12 brothers and sisters; 1 daughter; she is mourned by daughter Elma (Abram) Klassen, sons Allan (Kathy) and Art (Elva); 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Susie Reinhold
Susie Reinhold died Aug. 19. She was born Dec. 21, 1920 in Slavgorod, Russia to Henry and Sara Wedel. Susie’s family immigrated to Canada in 1925. They settled in Black Creek, B.C. in 1934 and were charter members of the MB Church. Susie recommitted her life to the Lord and was baptized in 1940. She worked as a cook, housekeeper and childminder. After caring for her dying mother, she found vocational fulfillment as a nurse’s aid. She married Friedrich Reinhold in Dec. 1955. She was a woman of faith and prayer, and loved serving in church through singing in the choir and helping the catering committee. Susie loved and forgave generously. Predeceased by Fred in 1995; 6 brothers; 4 sisters; she is mourned by daughter Heidi of Black Creek; 2 sisters; 1 brother. The funeral was Aug. 24 at Black Creek MB Church.
