On July 17, Coaldale (Alta.) MB Church commissioned Larry and Joyce Thiessen for a 4th term of service in the Philippines with SEND International. They will be located in Quezon City. Their children are Matthew, Lauren and Aaron.
Dennis and Lori Corkery have resigned as pastor of Komoka (Ont.) Community Church, after serving part-time since July 2003. They will remain in London, Ont., where he has a job.
In August, Saanich Community Church, Victoria, B.C. commissioned several members for service outside the congregation. Judy Bandsmer will accompany others working with Muslims in southeast Asia, to teach their children for a year. Ben and Linda Stobbe are spending 3 months in Molochansk/Halbstadt Ukraine, as North American directors of the Friends of the Mennonite Centre. They will review programs offered by the Centre and determine what other community-based humanitarian services could be offered. The previous directors are Al and Peggy Hiebert.
Daniel Williams is the new senior pastor at Fourth Ave. Bible Church in Niverville, Man. He was previously youth pastor in the church. He has a BRE from Prairie Bible College, Three Hills, Alta. He and Christine spent a year in a church planting project in Latvia with Greater Europe Mission, then moved to Steinbach, Manitoba where he worked for Loewen Windows. They have four children: Ethan, 9, Benjamin, 6, Owen, 4, and baby Emma.
Hope Community Church in Stoney Creek, Ont., which had re-launched in the former Mountview MB Church building in 2003, closed its doors June 26. Church planters Don and Sandee Craw are seeking further ministry opportunities.
Since retiring from pastoral ministry at Kitchener (Ont.) MB Church, Allan and Irene Labun have worked as interim pastor couple in several churches. Manitou (Man.) MB Church recently welcomed them in that role.
On Sept. 18, Westview Christian Fellowship, St. Catharines, began regular services at 124 Queenston St., an old church building they have been renovating. Earlier, they leased a school administration building at 112 Oakdale Ave. Vic Ratzlaff is the pastor.
Brad and Darlene Naylor, who were associate pastor couple at the Scott St. MB Church, St. Catharines, have moved back to Abbotsford and are open to further ministry.
Andy Johnson was commissioned as pastor of The Dwelling Place, Kitchener, Ont., Sept. 11. He recently completed his MDiv at MB Biblical Seminary, Fresno, Calif., where he also served as associate transition pastor for First Mennonite Church, Paso Robles, Calif. Prior to seminary studies, he was a sports editor for an Oklahoma newspaper. He is married to Chandra, an ESL teacher.

Paul Woodburn is joining Bethany as instructor of worship and music. He has an MDiv from Ontario Theological Seminary (Tyndale Seminary) and has been worship pastor at Forest Grove Community Church, Saskatoon, for 4 1/2 years. He and Anna have two children, Caleb and Kara.
Bethany College announces several new faculty and staff appointments for the 2005–6 academic year. Sherry Heidebrecht, an adjunct instructor in caregiving and counselling at Bethany since 1999, will serve as director of student development. She and her husband Doug have been part of the college community for 11 years; they have 2 children: Luke and Amanda. She replaces Jerry Letkeman, who is shifting roles to focus on Christian service and internships.
Katherine Henshaw will guide the missions program as instructor in intercultural studies. She has an MA from MB Biblical Seminary, and has served with MBMSI in Thailand and in Fresno with the Mennonite World Conference.
Former resident director Lisa Moran is returning as residence director. She recently worked as dean of women at Nipawin (Sask.) Bible Institute.
The residence director for men is Chris Harwood, who has an MA from Providence College, Otterbourne, Man., and has been working with youth in his church and Youth for Christ in Winnipeg the past 8 years.
Tim Baerwald is joining the staff as custodian, which will also include mentoring and supervision of student workers and volunteers.
