MB Biblical Seminary faculty members have published a book, Out of the Strange Silence: The Challenge of Being Christian in the 21st Century, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the school. The book features chapters by 12 of the Seminary’s faculty at its three campuses in Fresno, Calif., Langley, B.C. and Winnipeg, Man. Each chapter focuses on a particular challenge faced by Christians and the church today. The book will be available from Kindred Productions —release A new board game is available in time for Christmas. Called “Salvation Challenge,” it takes about 1 hour to play with 2 to 6 players. The game shows the way of salvation and encourages giving to missions. —Mission316 Author Lauren F. Winner explores the difference between the book-buying habits of Catholics and evangelicals in a recent article in Publishers Weekly. According to Winner, Protestantism has always been a reading religion, while Catholics put less emphasis on the printed page. She also quotes others who say that evangelicals are the most market-driven, marketing astute sector in American religion. Winner claims that “about 80 percent of books are bought by women, [but] in the Catholic world almost all of the book have been written by men.” On the other hand, personal-life evangelical well-sellers are written by women, for women. —Sightings | |||||||
