“It’s been an exciting week at Columbia Bible College,” says Melanie Olfert, director of admissions. Columbia welcomed 230 new students to its campus and reunited with another 260 continuing students. Enrollment in audit and enrichment programs looks to be strong for this year. Classes have begun.
Orientation week buzzed with registration, orientation, the Columbia rendition of the Amazing Race, a performance by local comedy troupe Panic Squad, workshops, activities and many budding friendships. “Columbia is about community,” says Shirley Esau, alumnus and executive assistant to the president. Columbia has been blessed this year with a strong enrollment and staff have commented that this is a great group of students with good leadership potential.

The atmosphere on campus is incredible. Students are excited and optimistic. Worship times have been sincere and expressive, and chapels have been full. It was great to have a strong complement of parents on campus during the week. Faculty and staff look forward to seeing the students grow spiritually, academically and relationally, as well as being a part of this developmental time in their lives as they learn to live well for the glory of God.
“This strong enrollment gives Columbia the impetus to explore new educational opportunities,” says Walter Bergen, vice-president of development. With a new focus on relationships to the supporting constituency, the future of Columbia looks bright.
