Sweeter Than All the World, Rudy Wiebe’s 2002 novel tracing the story of the Mennonites through 500 years of history, has been translated into Chinese.

The Word Guild, an association of Christian writers and editors, gave out its annual writing awards during the Write! Canada Conference in Guelph, Ont. June 17. Winning the Leslie K. Tarr Award for outstanding contribution to Christian writing and publishing in Canada was award-winning poet Margaret Avison of Toronto. Previous winners in this category include Margaret Epp, Harold Jantz and John Redekop.

Prenup Challenge, a six-episode series produced by Vision TV began airing July 11. The show follows three engaged couples to the lush tropical paradise of Dominica where they confront a series of challenges designed to test their compatibility. Along the way they receive guidance from relationship experts.

G-rated movies are 11 times more profitable than their R-rated counterparts, according to a study released June 7 by The Dove Foundation. The study examines the costs and revenues associated with the 200 most widely distributed films released by major Hollywood studios from 1989 to 2003.

Simply in Season is a new cookbook released jointly by MCC and Herald Press. The book explores how the food we put on our tables impacts our local and global neighbours and shows the importance of eating local, seasonal food. The 352-page, full-colour cookbook offers 307 recipes for “all seasons.”
