a mother bends
to wipe her child’s chin

an adolescent picks
up a quarter in the mall

a woman opens
the door for her cat

a young man reaches
for car keys in his pocket

a girl slips
her thumb from her mouth

a grandfather turns
to hug his grandchild

on an ordinary day
of small common movements

Lord, You could come
