Joyce Schwab
Joyce Schwab (nee Hagglund) died May 20. She was born Sept. 14, 1918 in Winnipeg. She grew up in Winnipeg, moved to Ottawa, then to Wells, B.C. and settled in the Fraser Valley of B.C. Her greatest passion was her love of Jesus. She was outgoing, shared the gospel and won people to the Lord. Predeceased by her husband Eric and 1 brother, she is mourned by daughters Lynda Christie of Calgary and Judy McLean of Chilliwack, B.C.; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. The funeral was May 26 in Central Heights Church, Abbotsford.
Helena N. Dyck
Helena N. Dyck died May 14 at age 85. She was born to Isaac J. and Anna Toews in Kamenka, Orenburg, Russia. The family immigrated to Canada in 1926. She married Jacob J. Dyck Dec. 6, 1945. They were missionaries in India and Nepal with Worldwide Evangelization Crusade, returning to Canada in January 1966. She was a pastor’s wife, counsellor and confidante, and an encouragement to her husband. She loved to sing. She is mourned by Jacob; daughters Sharon Fry of Ottawa, Adeline Fast of Luxembourg; son Paul of Abbotsford; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandsons. The funeral was in Central Heights Church, Abbotsford, with Christopher Douglas ministering.
Sue Neufeld
Sue Neufeld died May 30. She was born June 22, 1926 in Russia. The family immigrated to Canada, settling in Drake, Sask. She placed her faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour at 14. When she was 16, the family moved to Yarrow, B.C. She was baptized in June 1943, joining Yarrow MB Church. She moved to Vancouver at 20 to work in a sewing factory. She was involved in ministry at Pacific Grace Mission and began working there full-time in 1954. She served Christ in bringing many children, youth and adults to faith in Jesus, and discipling them. When Pacific Grace became a Chinese MB Church, she worked at Vancouver Post Office. She joined Richmond (B.C.) Bethel Church, serving there and becoming known as “Granny Sue.”
Jacob Dyck
Jacob Dyck died Aug. 16, 2004. He was born Nov. 10, 1923 in Hague, Sask. He accepted Christ as his Saviour at 13 and was baptized at 16. In 1941 the family moved to Sardis, B.C. He married Tina Schellenberg Oct. 4, 1945 in Yarrow, B.C. He worked at Bowman’s Sawmill for 36 years. He was faithful to God and the church, and devoted to his family and friends. Predeceased by Tina in 1993, he is mourned by sons Ron, Ed, Ken, Gerald; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers; 3 sisters. The funeral was Aug. 20, 2004 at Central Heights MB Church, Abbotsford, with Ed Dyck and Lyndon Plett ministering.
Jacob A. Dyck

Jacob A. Dyck died May 22. He was born Aug. 15, 1906 in Eichenfeld, South Russia to Abram and Helena Dyck. His father was killed by Machno’s followers and his mother fled to a neighbouring village. The family moved to Steinfeld to be close to other family members. They scavenged for food. In 1923 the family began immigrating to Canada but because of his siblings’ illness, only Jacob and his brother Abram were allowed to go, coming to Canada with no money and wearing only thin shirts and worn trousers. They worked as farmhands but were not paid. Their mother came to Canada 7 months later and married J.J.M. Klassen of Beaver Flats, Sask. Jacob acquired land and began farming. He married Mary Sawatsky Oct. 26, 1930. Because of the Depression they moved to Yarrow, B.C. after a decade. He worked in hop fields, tobacco fields and a nursery. He worked as a carpenter at the military base at Vedder Crossing, B.C. and established his own construction firm. In 1950 they moved to Vancouver, and over 30 years he built nearly 600 houses. After retirement he volunteered at Vancouver Airport Chapel. He is remembered for his care for his family, his generosity to others, his friendly demeanour and integrity. Predeceased by Mary, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, he is mourned by sons Harold and Ron; daughters Leonora Pauls and Violet Goosen; his brother’s orphaned children: Roland, Rodney, Nancy Johnson and Marlene Broening who became part of the family in 1957; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters. The funeral was May 28 in Fraserview MB Church with Dan Unrau ministering.
Peter John Willms
Peter John Willms died June 2. He was born Apr. 25, 1932 in Hepburn, Sask. to John and Helena Willms. Church life was important to the family and Peter accepted Christ at 11. The family moved to B.C. in 1945. He attended Columbia Bible College, then Vancouver Normal School. He taught at Fraser Lake, B.C., then moved to Clearbrook, B.C. He married Sue Quiring Dec. 27, 1955. He was principal in several elementary schools. He was known for his integrity and calm leadership. In 1969 he completed his Bachelor of Education degree at UBC. After retirement he taught in Nigeria and Paraguay, and developed the ESL program at Central Heights Church, Abbotsford. He was an avid woodworker and home renovator. He never complained despite his pain, nor did he feel disappointment in God. His courage, strength and faith were evident. He is mourned by Sue; son Ivan; daughters Cheryl and Rhonda.
Tina Schroeder
Tina Schroeder died Apr. 3. She was born May 22, 1927 in Rosefarm School District, Man. to William and Gertrude Schroeder. She made a decision to follow the Lord in 1948, was baptized and joined Grossweide MB Church. She attended Winkler (Man.) Bible School 1952–53. In 1955 she became blind as a result of a brain tumour. She moved to Winkler with her parents in 1967 and into Salem Home in 2003. Predeceased by her parents, 1 brother, she is mourned by brothers Pete and Bill. The funeral was Apr. 7 in Winkler MB Church with James Peters and David Friesen ministering.
