Congolese missionary deadIsaiko Mununga, who, with her husband Masolo, was a missionary to the Angolan MB Conference through MBMS International and their home conference of Congo, passed away February 15. She had been in her home country of Congo, trying to recover from ongoing health problems. She leaves to mourn her husband and two children, Zango and Bita. Mongolia: gateway to unreached Asians?Could the people of Genghis Khan’s former empire become evangelists to Central and East Asia? Front-line missionaries in Mongolia, Robert and Marlene Baerg, say the country could become a strategic sending base for missionaries to other restricted regions of Asia. Mongolians have free access to China, Tibet and North Korea, which are highly restricted for North Americans. Baergs sense an open door for ministry in Mongolia, where there is now relative freedom to evangelize and plant churches. Mongolians are genetically related to First Nations people of North America; the first Mongolian Christians were evangelized by North American Navaho Indian leaders. MBMS International is seeking workers for a team to Mongolia. Christians banishedResource missionary Phone Keo Keovilay reports that 175 Christians in a South East Asian country (name withheld for security reasons) have been forced to leave their village empty-handed. The government has been trying to make them renounce their faith. They took refuge with other Christians in a nearby village, but have run out of food. MBMSI has sent emergency relief funds until the village can harvest rice again. —from MBMSI “Global Bridges” newsletter | |||||||
