Churches urged to pray for Canada

The Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches is joining with the prayer thrust of Celebration 2005. Celebration 2005 is the fresh initiative of the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada aimed at helping congregations work side by side to raise awareness of God’s love for our nation and the world.

2005 has been designated as the year of prayer for Canada. EFC, in partnership with Every Home for Christ, has produced a full colour map for Canada to help congregations intercede for the needs of our nation. Mennonite Brethren congregations are encouraged to make this the focus of the prayer emphasis for the first week of the New Year. Further, we invite churches to set aside Pentecost Sunday, May 15, 2005 as the Day of Prayer for Canada. In conjunction with Celebration 2005, we urge churches to continue praying for the neighbourhood in which their church is situated, as well as to initiate events and community service to demonstrate the love of Christ.

Congregations may receive more information through the Celebration 2005 websiteOutside link or by contacting David Macfarlane of EFC: telephone 519-880-9959 or e-mail.
