Larry and Joy (Zena) Locken have been appointed half-time associate pastor couple at Clearbrook (B.C.) MB Church for one year. They previously served with Word of Life in Germany and Kenya in camp and youth ministry for 46 years. They have 2 children and 2 grandchildren.

Scott and Natalie Koop were commissioned as pastor couple in Flin Flon (Man.) MB Church and Northern Fellowship Chapel (EMC) in Creighton, Sask. Oct. 10. Prayers of dedication were led by David Thiessen, conference minister for the Evangelical Mennonite Conference, and Herb Kopp, Manitoba MB conference minister. Scott is a graduate of Steinbach Bible College. They previously were youth sponsors at Fort Garry MB Church, Winnipeg and youth pastor at Steinbach MB Church. Scott and Natalie have 2 children, Spencer, 9 and Marissa, 4.

Brian Wiens began ministry at Parliament Community Church, Regina, recently, as associate pastor for Alpha, adult discipleship and local mission. Brian is a graduate of Canadian Theological Seminary. Previously he served as assistant pastor at Strasbourg (Sask.) Alliance Church. He and his wife Aimee have 4 daughters, Bethany, Kirsten, Alexa and Anna.

Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary and Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary have appointed Victor Kliewer as part-time program mentor in the Evangelical Anabaptist Seminary Program. EASP is an inter-Mennonite pastoral training initiative based in Winnipeg that offers a Certificate in Christian Ministry. He will be a resource person for the students, facilitate community building among them, promote relationships between students and their denomination, and facilitate discussion of issues related to pastoral ministry. He holds an MDiv (AMBS), an MA in religious studies (University of Windsor) and a DMin (Bethany Theological Seminary). He is currently serving as associate pastor at Elmwood MB Church, Winnipeg.

Pines Bible Camp, Grand Forks, B.C. reports that 48% of the campers this past summer came from unchurched homes. There were 73 kids who made first-time decisions for Christ, and many recommitted their lives to Jesus. The theme this year was Super Hero Summer, focussing on heroes from the Bible. Redevelopment and upgrading at the site continues.

Nathan Koslowsky has been appointed half-time youth pastor at River East MB Church, Winnipeg. He began Oct. 3. Previously he served with Mennonite Disaster Service as a volunteer, as project director and as administrative coordinator for Winnipeg. He has also served as youth pastor in a Salvation Army church in California. He is currently studying at Canadian Mennonite University, Winnipeg. He and Danielle have one son, Micah.

Stephan and Stephanie Bauer began as new pastor couple at Lakeview Community Church, Killarney, Man., Nov. 1. Previously he was a clinical engineer. He graduated this year with an MDiv from Tyndale Seminary, Toronto. They have 4 children, Benjamin (8), Anthony (6), Emily (5) and Jonathan (3).

  • Greendale MB Church, Chilliwack, B.C. baptized Jenna Kirwood and Vanessa Wegenast Aug. 21.
  • Linden (Alta.) MB Church welcomed 3 new members by baptism Aug. 29: Kurt Leinweber, Tracy Leinweber and Teresa deWaard.
  • Cornerstone MB Church, Prince Rupert, B.C., welcomed Jason Knox by baptism and Jean Knox by confession of faith in February.
  • Panorama Community Church, Surrey B.C. baptized 11 persons July 4: Amanda Andrews, Trish Andrews, Allyson Barron, Tara Barteski, Carol Bishop, Rebecca Cadger, Michelle deJaray, Rhonda Campbell, Holly Isaac, Nicholas Knechtle and Nantina Tyerman.
  • Panorama Community Church, Surrey, B.C. baptized 5 people Oct. 3: John Lee, Nancy Hoock, Nicole Pruden, Wesley Schultz and Darrell Wiebe.
