Shadowmancer

G.P. Taylor. Lake Mary, FL: Charisma House, 2003. 275 pages.

Touted as the Christian response to Harry Potter, Shadowmancer has human characters, beasts, humans inhabited by satanic forces, and an ancient relic that must not get into the wrong hands. The forces of evil fight the forces of good, both human and supernatural, although sometimes the supernatural element seems to lose power. I have read a number of the Harry Potter books and this one seems much darker to me than any of those are. Definitely not recommended for young children. Graham Taylor, an Anglican priest from Yorkshire, England, is the author. His second novel, Wormwood, was released in October. Screen rights for both books have been sold to Hollywood.
