Schools, both public and private, are back in high gear. We contacted our high schools, colleges and seminary to find out about their enrolments 2004–05. MB Biblical Seminary works on 3 campuses. Winnipeg campus has 2 block courses (Introduction to the Old Testament and The Gospel of Mark) available this semester, with 4 credit students in the first and at least 12 credit students and 4 auditors enrolled in the second. Fresno campus has
Langley campus (ACTS)
These numbers are the highest ever for a fall semester; 42 of the 60 students are MB. The average age is 36. Eden High School, St. Catharines, Ont. is the only publicly funded Christian high school in Ontario.
Columbia Bible College, Abbotsford, B.C.
Bethany College, Hepburn, Sask.
Canadian Mennonite University, Winnipeg, has a record enrolment this year.
Mennonite Educational Institute (MEI) celebrated the opening of its new middle school Sept. 26. The grades 6 to 8 facility, which features a 30-station computer lab, double gymnasium and auditorium with moveable walls to make four learning centres, houses 464 students this year. The opening featured the middle school hand bell choir (above) and mass choir, with pastor Steve Berg of South Abbotsford MB Church giving the devotional and Dave Currie, director of Campus Crusade Canada, leading in a prayer of dedication for the staff. The event was also an opportunity to celebrate MEI’s 60th year of operations. MEI had its beginnings in 1944 in an annex attached to South Abbotsford MB Church. First principal was F.C. Thiessen, who received his formal education in Ukraine. Two of Thiessen’s great-great-grandchildren participated in the ribbon cutting for the new facility. MEI middle school principal is Heather Smith.
