Bethany College in Hepburn, Sask. recently welcomed Rick McCorkindale as their academic dean. From 1996 to 2003 he was pastor of Fourth Avenue Bible Church in Niverville, Man., and before that, pastor of Dalmeny (Sask.) Community Church. He is not new to Bethany College, having served earlier as an adjunct instructor. He has a BA from Wilfrid Laurier University and an MDiv from Asbury Theological Seminary. He and Sylvia have 3 children, Nathan, Karis and Joshua.



Bethany College also welcomes Michelle Schmidt as the interim athletics director. An alumnus of Bethany (1992–94), Michelle has a Bachelor of Recreation Studies from the University of Manitoba. She will provide oversight to the college’s athletics programs, including team coaching and summer sports camps, while Lisa Braun is on a maternity leave.

Andrew Barton is the new pastor of Christian Fellowship Chapel, Orillia, Ont. He and Marlene, with daughters Tiffany Ann and Beth Ann, moved from the East Baptist Church in Lynn, Ma. He studied at Central Baptist Seminary, Toronto, and has ministered in various Canadian and U.S. churches, including an inner city mission in Rochester, N.Y.

Mike Roth resigned as associate pastor of Valleyview Bible Church, Kamloops, B.C. as of June 30. He has been at the church since 2000 and will pursue further studies at Peace River Bible College in Grande Prairie, Alta. He is married to Jana. Stepping into the youth pastor role half-time is Chris Clark, who grew up in Valleyview Bible Church. He has been assisting Mike as well as attending University College of the Cariboo part-time.



Cornerstone Community Church, Virgil, Ont. commissioned Oskar Arajs as full-time associate pastor August 15, to minister in the areas of worship and evangelism. He graduated with an MDiv from Tyndale Theological Seminary, Toronto, in 2002, followed by a year at Regent College, Vancouver, working on an MTh. He has ministered in a number of Baptist church settings as worship leader, youth leader and street ministry leader. He is married to Arta.
