About this issue

Labour Day allows us a long weekend – one whole extra glorious day to not think about work, never mind labour at it! Or so we jest.

The dichotomies we build between work and the other parts of our lives, however, especially our churchly lives, are both false and unfortunate. Wally Kroeker, long-time editor with Mennonite Economic Development Associates, and someone who has thought and written a great deal about work, offers perspective and practical advice for bridging that gap between Sunday and Monday. Pastor David Eagle reflects on another aspect of being “Christian” in the workplace.

Walter Unger, currently chair of the Canadian Conference Board of Faith and Life, looks at the life of Mary Magdalene. His study is important, especially in the light of Mary’s portrayal in the bestselling book, The Da Vinci Code. A variety of other people stories, including a tribute to Mennonite Brethren church stateman Jacob H. Quiring, round out this issue.
