Poem

Then and now

Lorie Mayer

Previous | Next

I was fit from a
summer of paddling

Strong, even strokes
Strong back

I remember the first time
I moved my arms and felt
the muscles move in my back

It was glorious and powerful
and I loved my body
and I blessed my creator

Now, more than 20 years
and 100 pounds later
I am soft and round
and round and soft
and soft
and round

and I love my body
and I bless my creator!
