Harv and Shirley Janzen were commissioned as pastor couple of Parkland Community Church in Yorkton, Sask. Dec. 1. He has completed 2 years at Briercrest Biblical Seminary and is still studying there part-time, to complete an MDiv in pastoral ministry. He earlier graduated from Concord College, Winnipeg, and University of Winnipeg, and did structural drafting. Shirley works in a bookstore.

Anthony Cheung, pastor of Port Moody (B.C.) Pacific Grace MB Church, retired at the end of April. He has served as leader of the church since April 2001. His earlier career included working in the National Archives of Canada, as a medical librarian at the Department of National Defence, and teaching at Toronto Western Hospital’s Attison School of Nursing. He and his wife Rebecca will be moving back to Toronto.

The new lead pastor of Port Moody (B.C.) Pacific Grace MB Church is Owen Leung.

Anna Chu has resigned as pastor of North Shore Bethel Christian MB Church in North Vancouver.



Joshua Knaak has been worship pastor of Dalhousie Community Church in Calgary since March, 2003. An accomplished pianist, he spent four years in full-time music ministry in the US. He is also a student at the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary in Cochrane, Alta. He and Peggy have 2 young children, Sara and Sky.

Tim Sullivan has been appointed as District Minister of the Southern District Conference of the US Mennonite Brethren Conference, beginning in August. He and Donna have been pastor couple of the Parkview MB Church in Hillsboro, Kan. for the past 14 years. The Southern District Conference has more than 37 churches.

Ramon Noble has been leading the Tofield (Alta.) Gospel Church since June. He is a graduate of Prairie Bible Institute, Three Hills, Alta. and is credentialed with the Evangelical Covenant Church of Canada. He has served as pastor in Rosebud, Alta. for 12 years. He is married to Karen, who works in home care. They have two children, Janine and Jonathan.

Doug Heidebrecht has resigned as Academic Dean of Bethany College, Hepburn, Sask., effective June 30, after serving 4 years. He will continue to teach half-time at the school while pursuing Ph.D. studies.

The new associate pastor for German and Caregiving Ministries at Elmwood MB Church, Winnipeg, is Victor Kliewer. He has done educational and pastoral work, as well as conference administration with the Conference of Mennonites, in Winnipeg and Leamington, Ont. He and Val, a nurse, have 3 adult children.

Greg Wiens has resigned as youth pastor of Elm Creek (Man.) MB Church, effective mid-June, after 5 years service. He will start as associate pastor, working with youth and college and career, of the Elmwood MB Church, Winnipeg, in July. He and Heather have 3 1/2-year-old twins, Hannah and Aaron.



Winkler (Man.) MB Church celebrated the commissioning of Phillip and Moyra Vallelly as Pastor of Worship and Children’s Ministries on May 2. Pictured praying for the couple are Phyllis Kroeker, chair of Women’s Ministries, and lead pastor Gary Loewen. The Vallellys have pastored and served with Serving in Mission (SIM) in Ireland, their home country, as well as working as youth pastor in Canada. Phillip studied 3 years at the Irish Baptist Seminary. Moyra is a resource teacher; they have 2 sons, Ethan, 4, and Caleb, 2.
