Mark Hildebrand was commissioned Nov. 20 as part-time youth leader at Northwest Community Church, Meadow Lake, Sask.
Two Manitoba churches have recently welcomed interim pastor couples. Allan and Irene Labun, who ministered previously in the Kitchener (Ont.) MB Church and McIvor Ave. MB Church, are stepping in at Lakeview Community Church in Killarney. George and Grace Shillington are serving at Fourth Avenue Bible Church in Niverville. He is professor emeritus of Canadian Mennonite University.
West Bank Bible Camp, Swift Current, Sask. has a new director: Jerry Dennill. Originally from Kitimat, B.C., he and wife Liz (pictured with family) were most recently at Caronport, Sask. where he was student life director/counsellor for Caronport High School. Before that, he worked with Youth for Christ. They have 3 adult children.
Arthur DeFehr, CEO of Palliser Furniture and member of River East MB Church, Winnipeg, was recently appointed to the Order of Canada, the highest honour given to Canadian civilians for lifetime achievement. Besides his leadership of Canada’s largest furniture manufacturer, DeFehr has been involved in the development of Lithuania Christian College, Canadian Foodgrains Bank and Canadian Mennonite University. He was Mennonite Central Committee’s director of agricultural and refugee program in Bangladesh and UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Somalia.

Since Oct. 1, Stacey Ellertson has been part-time associate pastor of care and counselling at Bridgeway Community Church, Swift Current, Sask. He previously served as marriage and family counsellor with East Side Church of God in Swift Current. He has an BTh from Gardner College, Camrose, Alta. and an MA in Christian ministry as well as an MA in leadership and management from Briercrest Biblical Seminary, Caronport, Sask. He and LeeAnne have two daughters, Kahlan, 5 and Cara-Marie, 1.
Andrea Toews is the new half-time children’s ministry pastor at Westwood Community Church, Winnipeg. She has worked as a nurse for 20 years. She and Tim, a teacher, have 3 children: Isaiah, 9, Thomas, 7 and Hannah, 4.
