2 Corinthians 2:14–16How do you smell? Good? Bad? A little strongly or hardly at all? We all want to smell good, and we don’t want to overdo it, right? Guess what? God calls us to reek! 2 Corinthians 2:14–16 says, “Thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life.” The Message describes this as an “aroma redolent with life” and “the stench from a rotting corpse.” We are required, by God, to permeate our communities. What a changed world this would be if we would all smell that strongly. Let’s let that aroma, that stench, be our defining characteristic. Let’s spend so much time in the Word that people can’t help but notice that smell. Through a relationship with God, we can obtain a bottomless bottle of perfume that we can apply daily and use to make a difference in the lives of the people around us. I thank God for the smelly people I know. Through them, I found out how awesome He is and was encouraged to get to know Him. I pray that I will smell as much as they do. So go! Be smelly! God will bless you for it! | ||||||
