Tennay Peters died Oct. 26. She was born Aug. 10, 1939 to Peter and Betty Peters. Predeceased by 1 brother and 1 granddaughter, she is mourned by husband Dave; sons Darrel and Steve; daughter Rosalea Wiebe; 3 grandchildren; 2 brothers; 3 sisters. The funeral was Oct. 30 in Osler Mission (Sask.) Chapel.
Martha Schulz

Martha Schulz died Nov. 25 in Abbotsford. She was born Aug. 14, 1913 near Herbert, Sask. to Jacob and Helena Thiessen. She accepted Christ and was baptized and joined Greenfarm (Sask.) MB Church. She left school to care for her parents. She completed high school in Steinbach, Man., then became an LPN. She helped her sister Anna manage the Mary Martha Home in Winnipeg. In 1951 she married Diedrich Schulz, a widower with 7 children, who was formerly married to her sister Sarah. Diedrich died in 1976. She served joyfully in Herbert MB Church in Bible studies, women’s groups and hospitality ministries. She was committed to prayer, missions and outreach. She moved to Abbotsford, B.C. in 1993, joining Seven Oaks Alliance Church. She moved to Tabor Home in 1999 and to Menno Hospital in 2002. Her spirit inspired everyone. Predeceased by Diedrich and stepson Ed, she is mourned by son Doug; stepchildren Irvin, Esther, Lillian, Olga, Myrtle and Dorothy; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren. The funeral was Nov. 28 in Seven Oaks Alliance Church.
Henry David Loewen
Henry David Loewen died Dec. 16 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. at age 82. Predeceased by his wife Mimi, he is mourned by sons Thomas of Calgary, Victor of Ottawa, David of Toronto; daughters Pauline Henson of Sault Ste. Marie, Ruth MacInnes of Orangeville, Beth Schloo of Edmonton and Julia Schloo of Shelburne, Ont.; 17 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 7 sisters; 2 brothers. The funeral service was Dec. 20 in Northwood Funeral Home, Sault Ste. Marie.
Cristin Rachelle Braun
Cristin Rachelle Braun died in an automobile accident Dec. 9 in Winnipeg. She was born to Gord and Colleen Braun Oct. 29, 1980 in Dawson Creek, B.C. She attended MBCI, Winnipeg, and was currently a fourth-year nursing student at University of Manitoba. She loved children and planned to work in pediatrics. She was baptized Sept. 24 and joined Jubilee Mennonite Church, Winnipeg. She was involved in college & career and as a youth sponsor. She loved life and was fun to be around. She had many friends. She was a caring and loyal friend. She is mourned by Gord and Colleen; sisters Andrea and Laura; grandparents John and Anne Braun and George and Dorothy Penner. The funeral was Dec. 13 in Covenant Christian Reformed Church, Winnipeg.
John Peter Friesen

John Peter Friesen died July 11. He was born Sept. 10, 1920 in Warman, Sask. He accepted Jesus during Vacation Bible School conducted by Jake Epp and Peter Fast in 1935. He spent several years in a Conscientious Objectors Camp in Black Creek, B.C. He and several other men formed a quartet that served in churches in the area. He was baptized in 1946 near Warman and was a faithful member of Warman MB Church for 57 years. He attended Tabor Bible School in Dalmeny, Sask. where he also sang in a quartet. He taught Sunday school, was Sunday school superintendent, treasurer, song leader and in singing groups. He loved farming and animals. He liked to be well-dressed with suit and tie for any occasion. He married Sara Balzer Aug. 7, 1976. They sang together and travelled. He was predeceased by brother Harry; he is mourned by Sara, brother Jack; sisters Katherine Kargut, Helen Friesen, Anne Baerg, Elizabeth Fisher and Margaret O’Neill. The funeral was July 16 in Bergthaler Mennonite Church, Warman.
Erna Voth

Erna Voth died Dec. 2 in Abbotsford, B.C. She was born Feb. 25, 1918 in Wiesenfeld, Russia to Gerhard and Susie Froese. Her parents both died on the same day in October 1922. Erna was adopted by her aunt and uncle Anna and Henry Voth. They immigrated to Canada, living in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and B.C. Sister Mary joined her at Bible school in Yarrow, B.C. In 1951 the Voths moved to Reedley, Calif. She attended Fresno State University, becoming an elementary school teacher. She moved back to B.C. and taught in Clearbrook until retiring at age 60. She cared for her adopted parents until their deaths. In 1989 sister Lydia and her daughter and granddaughter came to Canada from Russia, living with Erna. Erna helped Lydia accept the Lord before she died. Erna moved into Menno Home when her health declined. She gave first place to God in her life and visited people with the Evangelism Encouragers. She had a big heart and was devoted to family and friends. She is mourned by sister Mary. The funeral was Dec. 5 in Clearbrook MB Church.
David Jakob Unger
David Jakob Unger died Dec. 18 in Lucky Lake, Sask. He was born June 23, 1906 in South Russia to Jakob and Maria Unger. The family moved to Slavgorod, Siberia in 1908. They immigrated to Canada in 1926. He homesteaded in Moose Range, Sask. He accepted Jesus through radio ministry, and listened to the radio for inspiration to the end of his life. He was baptized in Saskatoon. He married Elizabeth Wiebe Jan. 14, 1945 in Saskatoon. They farmed in Moose Range, Lobethal and Main Centre. In 1953 he became a mail carrier. They retired to Herbert in 1984. Their concern was the welfare of their sons who were mentally challenged. He cared for Elizabeth when she became sick. Elizabeth died Sept. 9, 2003. Predeceased by all his siblings and 2 infant sons, he is mourned by daughters Mary Mielke and Ruth Unruh; sons David, Daniel and Paul; 2 grandchildren. The funeral was Dec. 20 in Herbert MB Church.
Jacob Janzen
Jacob Janzen died Jan. 17, 2003 at age 84 in Warman, Sask. He is mourned by his wife Helen; sons John, Martensville, Sask.; Ernie, Calgary; Alvin, Saskatoon; Wally, Warman; Bradley, Toronto; daughters Bertha Dyck, Calgary, Nora Dyck, Abbotsford; Irene, Ottawa; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, 1 sister. The funeral was Jan. 22 in Warman MB Church.
Anne Dueck

Anne Dueck died Oct. 30 in Winnipeg. She was born Nov. 29, 1912 in Kistendej, Arkadak, Russia to Heinrich and Maria Dueck. Her mother died 9 years later and Anne assumed responsibilities for the family. Her father remarried shortly thereafter. In 1926 the family immigrated to Manitou, Man. She began her faith journey in 1927 and was baptized in 1928, joining Manitou MB Church. She attended Winkler (Man.) Bible School and taught daily vacation Bible school. She attended MB Bible College in 1947, graduating in 1951. She worked with Canada Inland Mission in Winnipegosis, and later in B.C. with West Coast Children’s Mission. In 1957 she completed high school and teacher training in Vancouver and taught until 1970. She worked for Children’s Aid Society in Winnipeg for 10 years. She also volunteered for 32 years with Child Evangelism Fellowship, particularly in the Mailbox Club. In her retirement she tutored foreign students in English. She began a biblical studies bursary for her great nieces and nephews, 38 of whom have benefited. She was very frugal. She enjoyed an active social life in Donwood South. Predeceased by 4 brothers and 1 sister, she is survived by sisters Mary Martens, Katie Peters; brother John Dyck; 40 nieces and nephews. The funeral was Nov. 4 in Elmwood MB Church, Winnipeg.
Agnes Janzen
Agnes (Sawatzky) Janzen died Nov. 20. She was born Mar. 5, 1913 in Osterwick, Ukraine. She accepted Jesus at age 9 and was baptized at 16 at the last public baptism for Mennonites in Ukraine. She married Friedrich Mensch Mar. 18, 1935. The family fled Ukraine during World War II and came to Canada in 1948. Friedrich died May 13, 1963. Agnes worked for a number of Lethbridge, Alta. families. She married George Janzen from Abbotsford, B.C. in 1977. She was a strong woman, much loved by others. Predeceased by Friedrich, she is mourned by sons Art, Nick, Harry, Fred, Willie, Vic; daughter Joan Byrne; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; the Janzen family. The funeral was Nov. 24 in Clearbrook (B.C.) MB Church.
Henry T. Thiessen
Henry Teichgraf Thiessen died Dec. 3 in Steinbach, Man. He was born July 24, 1918 in Alexandrowka, eastern Russia. The family immigrated to Giroux, Man. when he was 7. He committed his life to the Lord at 15. He married Elda. He taught in Winnipegosis, Man., coached basketball, directed choirs and built and renovated houses. He retired as school superintendent of Hanover School District in 1983. He treasured his church family, Bible studies, Gideons, and singing in quartets. Family was important. He enjoyed debating, politics, playing games, skiing, curling and golf. Predeceased by 3 brothers, 2 sisters, 1 granddaughter, he is mourned by Elda; daughters Marilyn Redekop, Barbara Wiebe, Wendy Thiessen; son Bill; 17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters. The funeral was Dec. 7 in Steinbach MB Church.
