Grammy-nominated rapper connected with FLN

Fresh I.E., the Christian rap singer whose CD, Red Letterz, was recently nominated for a Grammy award, toured with Family Life Network in motivational assemblies throughout southern Manitoba last fall. At the drop-in centre in Morris, Fresh I.E. led five kids to the Lord, reported Marshall Zacharias of FLN. “He prayed with them right from the stage.”

Fresh I.E. (the I.E. stands for “in eternity”), 31, founded the ministry Life Inc (Resurrection and Life) to reach inner city youth through music. He comes from a rough background, but his life turned around in 1998. His response to the Grammy nomination was, “Imagine that – doing what God has called me to do and getting nominated for a Grammy doing it! Wow, God is good!”

The news also delighted Marshall Zacharias who heads Avante Records, now operating as part of FLN, where the CD was mixed and mastered. “That’s just crazy – no one from here gets nominated for a Grammy,” he said. His wife Malynda, a recording artist, sang background vocals on Red Letterz.
