Rebecca Harms of the Justice (Man.) MB Church is in Kyrgyzstan with Youth With a Mission (YWAM), teaching English and doing volunteer work in hospitals and orphanages. She first spent several months in Seattle, Wash., training. She is the daughter of pastor Gerry and Nora Harms.

The Board of Camp Crossroads wishes to thank God for the service and leadership given the camp by Hardy Klassen of Kitchener, Ont., who passed away suddenly Oct. 21 (see obituary MBH Dec. 5). He was very active in his home congregation, Glencairn MB Church, and served the camp as a Board member, volunteer, encourager and supporter.

Dave Heinrichs resigned as associate pastor of Portage Ave. MB Church, Winnipeg in July, and began a new ministry as associate pastor at Whyte Ridge Baptist Church, Winnipeg in August. He and Colleen have two young daughters, Kendra and Mackenzie.



Northview Community Church in Abbotsford recently welcomed Justyn Rees as their new interim senior pastor. Originally from London, England, he is a speaker and author. He has been attending Northview for four years, assisting with the preaching ministry. He and his wife Joy lead Upstream Ministries. Vern Heidebrecht, who recently celebrated 40 years of pastoral ministry, 15 of them at Northview, will stay with the church as Pastor Emeritus, working in the area of prayer and discipleship. Darren Petker was commissioned as youth pastor of Ross Rd. Community Church, Abbotsford, on Nov. 23. He has been an intern at the church since Sept. 2002 and graduated from Columbia Bible College with a BA in youth work last spring. He is married to Judi, who works for MCC Supportive Care Services.

David Arrol Macfarlane is the new director of National Initiatives for the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC). He will give leadership to Celebration 2005 and other initiatives to strengthen the evangelical church in Canada. He has been pastor at Waterloo (Ont.) MB Church and Chilliwack (B.C.) Central MB Church.



Waterloo (Ont.) MB Church recently appointed Paul McIlwraith as lead pastor. He has been on staff for 7 years, starting as youth pastor, then pastor of community care, then acting lead pastor. Before that, he was a teacher for 10 years. He is also currently attending Tyndale Seminary in Toronto. He is married to Carolyn, a teacher, and they have 4 children: Leah, Scott, Tess, D.J.

Central Heights Church, Abbotsford, B.C. has added Rushia Klassen to their staff one day a week as associate director of Women’s Ministries. She has been involved in Athletes in Action with her husband Dave for 15 years and often speaks at women’s events. Before the birth of her children, she taught elementary school. They have 4 children, Caleb, Marek, Hannah, and Abigail, and 1 foster daughter, Linda Wong.
