Erna Klassen
Erna Klassen died Feb. 16 in Winnipeg. She was born July 2, 1914 in Barvenkovo, Ukraine and came to Canada with her family in 1925, living first in Giroux, Man., then in Winnipeg. She was a nurse in Winkler, in Mexico with MCC, privately and at the Rehab Hospital in Winnipeg. She was baptized in 1931, joining North Kildonan MB Church, Winnipeg. She enjoyed travelling with her friend Clara Schellenberg, and her camera. She is mourned by sister Anne Wilms. The funeral was Feb. 20 at Klassen Funeral Chapel, Winnipeg.
Nettie Labun Brown

Nettie Labun Brown died Aug. 12 in Winkler, Man. She was born Nov. 14, 1907 in Herbert, Sask. When she was 16 her grandmother, mother and one sister died in a typhoid epidemic. She took teacher’s training and taught in the Herbert and Winkler areas. She married Gerhard (George) Labun in August 1930. They began farming in 1937 in Gnadenthal, Marquette and Roland. In 1957 they both returned to teaching, working in Indian day schools in Libau, Man. and in northern B.C. In 1969 they retired and attended Prairie Bible Institute, Three Hills, Alta., then worked with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Oaxaca, Mexico. Son Clarence died in 1931; George died in 1973 after they had moved back to Winkler. Nettie worked with Mailbox Club of Child Evangelism Fellowship and was chair of the Missions-schwesternverein at Winkler MB Church. She married widower Frank Brown. He died in January 2002. She moved into Salem Home in June 2002. Nettie was a devoted wife and mother. She had a wry humour and loved to teach children. Her strong faith carried her through many hardships and gave her joy. Predeceased by husbands George and Frank; son Clarence; she is mourned by daughters Lenora Suss, Steinbach; Evelyn Labun, Grand Forks, ND.; sons Arthur and Albert of Winnipeg; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; Frank’s children Helen Janzen and Dorothy Enns and their families. The funeral was Aug. 17 in Winkler MB Church.
Elizabeth Jahnke
Elizabeth Jahnke died Aug. 5. She was born July 24, 1916 in Einlage, Russia and immigrated to Greenfarm, Sask. in 1925. She started contributing to family earnings after grade 8. In 1937 the family moved into Herbert and she attended the Mennonite church. She attended Herbert Bible School. She worked in Vancouver, Winnipeg and Swift Current, Sask. She married Peter Jahnke in 1950, becoming mother to his 3 children. They lived on a ranch in Big Coulee, Sask. She kept a huge garden, canned, baked bread and pies, churned butter, sewed, knit and embroidered. She loved the Lord and enjoyed listening to Christian radio broadcasts. She contributed craft items for the annual missions sale of the community Ladies Aid. She exemplified Christ in word and deed. Predeceased by Peter, infant daughter Carol, 2 brothers, 1 sister, she is mourned by daughters Mona Birkbeck; Diane Ganes; Marilyn Edwards; Lucy Burnett; Sheila Braun; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 3 brothers. The funeral was Aug. 9 in Bridgeway Community Church, Swift Current.
Anne Enns
Anne Enns died Aug. 9 after a massive stroke. She was born to Heinrich and Justina Pankratz in Lichtfelde, Molotschna Feb. 20, 1921. In 1930 the family immigrated to Arnaud, Man., relocating to Steinbach, Man. five years later. She married Bill Enns in Steinbach May 20, 1950. She thanked God daily for her family and friends. She enjoyed entertaining, quilting, reading and baking, and appreciated music, painting and flowers. Predeceased by 1 sister, 1 brother, she is mourned by son Gordon, daughter Marilyn Kroeker; 1 granddaughter; 2 sisters; 2 brothers. The funeral was Aug. 12 in Steinbach MB Church.
William (Bill) Enns
Bill Enns died Aug. 11, 2 days after his wife Anne died. He was born to Aron and Katherine Enns Nov. 21, 1919 in Orloff, Russia. They immigrated to Canada in 1930, buying a farm in the Ekron, Man. district in 1939. He accepted Christ, was baptized and joined the MB church. He was active on boards and committees. He married Anne Pankratz May 20, 1950. He worked as an electrician and a wood scaler, later becoming a salesman. Attending trade shows enabled Bill and Anne to travel in Canada, the US, Europe and South America. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, photography and coffee. Predeceased by Anne, 2 sisters, 1 brother, he is mourned by son Gordon, daughter Marilyn Kroeker; 1 granddaughter; 1 sister. The funeral was Aug. 12 in Steinbach MB Church.
Agnes Waechter

Agnes Waechter died June 17. She was born May 13, 1910 in Herbert, Sask. to Heinrich and Katharine Goertzen. At age 13 she began working for neighbours. She was baptized and joined Swift Current MB Church in August 1933. She attended Herbert Bible School. She married Ernest Waechter Oct. 15, 1950. Agnes worked hard gardening, milking and doing chores on the farm. She made all her children’s clothing. She was hospitable and enjoyed company. Her cooking and baking were renowned and Christmas with family was festive. She helped in the kitchen at church and with making quilts in Ladies Aid. Ernest died in 1972. In 1975 she moved to Hodgeville, Sask. where she enjoyed visiting, caring for others, Bible studies, Scrabble, and gardening, filling her house with plants. Spending time with children and grandchildren was especially important. She moved to Heritage Towers in Swift Current, then to Heritage Manor in Herbert and in 1998 to Herbert Nursing Home. She made many friends, had a sense of humour, never complained and felt free to express her thoughts. She loved God and others. Predeceased by Ernest, 4 brothers, 6 sisters, she is mourned by son Dan, Kelstern, Sask; daughter Ruth Ohlmann, Shamrock, Sask.; 6 grandchildren; 1 brother. The funeral was June 20 in Kelstern Community Church.
Walter Boldt

Walter Boldt was born Aug. 28, 1927 to Bernard and Margarete Boldt in Plum Coulee, Man. The family lived in Kitchener, Ont. Walter worked on local farms following grade 8 to help the family survive. In 1943 they moved to Chilliwack and then to Vancouver. They attended 43rd Ave. MB Church. He went to night school to achieve senior matric standing, then studied in Tabor College, Kan., coming back to Vancouver because of the Korean War. He went to University of British Columbia, then taught math and science in secondary schools in Trail and North Vancouver. He began teaching at UBC in 1960, becoming department head. He married Alvina Peters Aug. 26, 1950. His home was his delight, spending time with Alvina and their children. They camped and travelled. He took his children to his labs on Saturday mornings to observe the animals, equipment and computers. He was involved in church music, church council and sang in a radio quartet. They retired to Abbotsford and he taught at Trinity Western University, Langley. He completed a genealogy of the Boldt and Peters families. He loved the great hymns of the faith, claiming “My faith has found a resting place” as his song of testimony. He is mourned by Alvina; son James and Andrew; daughter Kelly, siblings.
Nathan Josiah Suderman Wiens
Nathan Josiah Suderman Wiens died Sept. 2. He was born July 15 to Greg and Heather Wiens of Elm Creek, Man. He was born with a heart defect that required immediate surgery in Edmonton. He recovered and came home in August. He was a beautiful, happy baby who smiled at 5 weeks and interacted well with the family. He is mourned by Greg and Heather, sister Hannah and brother Aaron; grandparents. The funeral was Sept. 6 in Elm Creek MB Church.
Jessie Koehn
Jessie Koehn died May 10. She was born Sept. 15, 1903 to John and Katrina Leiding in Germany. Her mother died when Jessie was 3, leaving her in the care of relatives. At age 15 she was taken to Russia where she found work. She married Abe Koehn Jan. 10, 1923. She accepted the Lord in 1924. They immigrated to Niverville, Man. in 1926 where they worked on a farm. In 1945 the family moved to Yarrow, B.C. They were baptized and joined Yarrow MB Church in 1946. She was a hard worker, gardening, house cleaning, sewing and teaching her daughters. Abe died in 1968. She moved to Tabor Home, Abbotsford, B.C. in 1996. Predeceased by infant son John; Abe; 1 granddaughter; 1 great-grandson; she is mourned by daughters Jessie Guenther; Freda Heinrich; Betty Classen; Mary Funk; Tina Koehn; Maggie Braun; Nita Neuman; Lori Dyck; son Abe; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.
