After 19 years leading the Flin Flon (Man.) MB Church, Dale and Marge Warkentin moved to Carman, Man. in August, to work at a “church restart” there. The former Gospel Light Church in Carman was closed by the Manitoba MB Conference at the end of April, because of internal difficulties. Dale earlier served as associate pastor at Winkler (Man.) MB Church and graduated from MB Bible College. Marge has been involved, since 1995, in a family literacy program she designed and coordinated called “Read to Me.” They have two grown children, Michael and Laurie.
James Regehr has resigned after 2 years as pastor of Christian Fellowship Centre, Snow Lake, Man. to become president of Fountain of Life School of Ministry, an interdenominational training school in Prince Albert, Sask. He has a PhD in Biblical Studies from Cambridge Graduate School in Arkansas. His wife, BettyAnn, has been home-schooling Peter, 9, Anastasia, 7, and Nathaniel, 5.
Among the 39 young adults who participated in the Aug. 23–29 SALT (Serving and Learning Together) orientation at Mennonite Central Committee headquarters, Akron, Pa. were two Canadian Mennonite Brethren. Tristan Isaak, finishing a degree in international development from Canadian Mennonite University, Winnipeg, is beginning a 1-year assignment as a community development worker in the Philippines. He is a member of Jubilee Mennonite Church, Winnipeg. Casadi Weber of Guernsey, Sask., a member of Philadelphia MB Church, Watrous, Sask. is beginning a 1-year assignment as a day-care assistant in Bolivia. She graduated from Lanigan (Sask.) Central High School.

Dan Stobbe has resigned as pastor of Lakeview Community Church, Killarney, Man. after some 12 1/2 years, effective Dec. 31. He is currently on sabbatical, studying at Providence Seminary in Otterburne, Man. for a Masters degree in Christian Education. Kathy is a Creative Memories Consultant and janitor of the church. They have four sons, Dallas, Kenton, Darcy and Kevin, and are open to further ministry.
Jonathan Toews has joined Portage Ave. MB Church, Winnipeg, as youth worker on a 10-month contract. He grew up in Manitou, Man., attended Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford, B.C. 2 years, and graduated from Canadian Mennonite University with a BTh. He recently married Kimberly, a nursing student.
The Association for Manitoba Archives awarded Abe Dueck with the Award of Recognition at their annual meeting Sept. 25, for his contribution to the development of archives in Manitoba. Recently retired, he was director of the Centre of Mennonite Brethren Studies in Winnipeg for 12 years, and has served on various Mennonite and provincial historical boards. He has published several books, mostly recently Concordia Hospital: Faith, Health and Community: 75 years 1928–2003.
Steve Harms has resigned as half-time youth pastor at Living Hope Church in Saskatoon to return to woodworking full-time, but will continue to work with youth in a lay capacity. He has a BA in youth work from Columbia Bible College, Abbotsford, B.C. He is married to Lisa.
Tim Clark is the new associate pastor of worship and ministry development at Coaldale (Alta.) MB Church. He has served 14 years in Fellowship Baptist and Mennonite Brethren churches, and has a BRE from Northwest Baptist Theological College, and recently, a Certificate in Career Development through Concordia University of Alberta. He is married to Roxy, and they have three sons, Justin, 14, Jared, 12, and Jordan, 8.
South Vancouver Pacific Grace Chinese MB Church added two staff July 15. Justin Yap (pictured) is youth pastor. He is in his third year of the MDiv program at ACTS in Langley, B.C. Art Chandler is the new pastor of English adult ministry and discipleship. He worked 10 years with NAIM Ministries (formerly North American Indian Mission) in Kamloops, B.C. and Vancouver, and recently completed an MA in Christian Studies. Anne is a nurse; they have two children: Heidi, 10, and Luke, 8.

The work of the Niagara United Mennonite Women’s Quilting Group, which began meeting in the mid-1930s and created thousands of quilts to benefit Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), was formally acknowledged Sept. 6 by the unveiling of a quilt for display at Pleasant Manor, St. Catharines, Ont. The quilt, owned by the Janzen family, was made in the 1970s. It contains the embroidered “signature” of each woman in the group. There are only a few members surviving.
