Greg and Carolyn Bright, with children Jennifer, Ryan and Cherie, have taken a one-year leave from Gateway Community Church in Canora, Sask. to serve at Kodaikanal International School in south India. Greg will be interim chaplain of the school of 480 students and more than 200 staff, and Carolyn (Hamm), who attended the school when her parents were missionaries, will be half time resource teacher. She is also giving private piano lessons. Pat Dergousoff and Joey Umali are covering pastoral duties in Canora while Brights are away.
Jason Dyck began as associate pastor of Dalmeny (Sask.) Community Church on Sept. 7, after serving as pastoral intern for about a year. He grew up in Meadow Lake, Sask. and Edmonton, and worked at a variety of jobs before going to Bethany Bible College, where he graduated with a BA (with a pastoral ministry major). His wife Karina is returning to Bethany for her fourth year of studies.
Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) has hired Lois Nickel as administrative coordinator in the Winnipeg office. She has worked with Powerland Computers, in camp ministries, and in youth ministry, and has a MTh. from Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary, Elkhart, Ind. She attends Winnipeg’s Hope Mennonite Church with her husband and 3 children. Nickel replaces Nathan Koslowsky, who at 24 was one of the youngest project directors in MDS history. He is now studying theology at Canadian Mennonite University, Winnipeg.
Port Rowan (Ont.) MB Church recognized the service of Catharina Penner to the congregation May 25. She has been a life-long member, teaching Sunday school, recording historical events of the church, and providing flower arrangements. She and husband Waldo recently moved to Tabor Manor in St. Catharines, Ont.
Ken Reddig has joined Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Canada in the newly-created Major Gifts and Planned Giving Coordinator position. He was Executive Director of MCC Manitoba from 1999 to 2002 and most recently worked as the fundraising coordinator for St. Boniface Research Foundation in Winnipeg. He is a member of McIvor Ave. MB Church, Winnipeg.
Jim Nightingale is the new camp director of Redberry Bible Camp in Saskatchewan. He has pastored Yarrow (B.C.) MB Church for nearly 6 years, and worked with Mennonite Brethren Missions and Services International (MBMSI) in Portugal and Brazil for 9 years. Earlier, after studying at Multnomah School of the Bible, Portland, Ore. he was program director of a camp in southern Oregon for 6 years. He and Marylou have 4 children: a married daughter Rachel, and three sons, Timothy, Joshua and Zechariah.
