New coach for Ontario church planters

Toronto, Ont.

Previous | Next

The Ontario Board of Church Extension (BOCE) has entered a new phase with the appointment of Terry Wiseman as full-time director/coach of Mennonite Brethren outreach efforts in the province, including “Love Toronto”. Wiseman comes to the Ontario MB Church with a great deal of previous experience and expertise in church planting. He has worked as a church planter and is the former Canadian director for church planting with the Salvation Army. He has a music degree from Memorial University and a Masters of Theological Studies from Ontario Theological Seminary. He and his wife Joy live in Aurora, Ontario. The commissioning of Wiseman to the BOCE ministry was held May 25 at the World Vision Centre in Mississauga. The service, led by BOCE vice-chair Peter Loewen, was hosted by two church plants in the greater Toronto area, the Meadows Community Church in Mississauga, and the Church of International Villages in Brampton. The service also included expressions of appreciation to the outgoing director Clinton Bell, who did the work of a full-time director while hired on a part-time basis. Bell preached the commissioning message, based on 2 Timothy 2:14–19.
