MBMS International, the global mission agency of Mennonite Brethren churches in Canada and the United States has announced the resignation of its Director for Finance, Lori Toews Friesen, effective August 31, 2003. Lori began her ministry with MBMS International in May 1999 in the Winnipeg office and moved to Fresno in September of that same year. She gave leadership to the financial operations of the agency which has ministries in over 65 countries. For the past year, Lori has worked from an office in Abbotsford, BC. “Lori has navigated significant changes to the finance operations in our agency over the past four years, as we have grown to include several short-term ministries and a larger number of missionaries,” says General Director Harold Ens. “She met the challenge with dedication and expertise.” Lori’s resignation came at a time that MBMS International had begun a broad review of its staffing structure as well as the scope of its programs. The agency is making arrangements to cover its financial operations with staff in both Abbotsford and Fresno while the broader review is completed. At this time, Lori’s future plans have not been announced. —MBMS International news release
