Revelation prayers

Jake H. Friesen

When I heard about turning phrases of Revelation into prayers, the idea resonated within me. As we see the Day approaching (Hebrews 10:25), it seems most fitting that we pray back to God these prayers found in His last book to us. By doing this, our minds will be focused on the Kingdom, and our hearts will receive cleansing. The following are prayers based on the first three chapters of Revelation as a sample of what can be done with the whole book.

Thank You, Lord, that You have shown Your servants things which will come to pass. 1:1

Give us holy boldness to read, hear and keep the words of Your prophecy. 1:3

Grant us grace and peace. 1:4

Thank You for loving us, cleansing us and making us a kingdom and priests to serve You. To You be glory and dominion forever. 1:5,6

We are overwhelmed with Your glory. Remove our fears, for You are the Living One; You were dead but are alive forevermore, and have the keys of death. 1:17,18

We worship You, for You hold the seven stars in Your right hand, which means You hold our churches in Your almighty hand, their leaders and their people. 2:1

Keep us from leaving our first love. 2:4

Open our ears to hear what Your Spirit is saying to the churches; may we hear Your commendations as well as Your critiques. 2:7

We worship You, the First and the Last. 2:8

We confess You know all about us, our virtues and our failings. 2:9

Help us to be faithful to death. 2:10

Give us grace to repent of the wrongs You have shown to be in us. 2:14

We worship You, Son of God with eyes like fire. 2:18

We acknowledge your true and righteous judgments on those who perpetrate evil. 2:19–23

Help us to hold fast to what we have been given. 2:25

We worship You because You are holy and true and have the power to open and shut. 3:7

Though our strength be small, help us to keep Your word and not deny Your name. 3:8

Keep us from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world. 3:10

    Come quickly, Lord Jesus! 3:11

We worship You because You are faithful and true. 3:14

Keep us from lukewarmness; may our hearts beat with the holy passion of love for You. 3:16

Give us grace to repent and to receive Your chastening. 3:19

We hear You knock, and we hear Your voice. We open the door of our hearts and invite You to come in and dine with us. 3:20

Grant us a listening ear, so that we may hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. 3:22
