The Chair in Mennonite Studies, University of Winnipeg is preparing to host a conference Sept. 30–Oct 1, 2005, focussing on the interaction between North American Mennonites and refugees. This conference will be held on the 25th anniversary of the coming of the so-called Vietnamese “Boat People” in 1979–80. They are calling for research paper proposals for the conference. Sales for To Such as These . . . Songs and Lullabies for Children around the World, the CD produced by Foothills Mennonite Church, Calgary, have exceeded expectations. The CD was produced to raise funds for Generations at Risk, an MCC program aimed at preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS in Africa by supplying blood testing kits and health kits to people. The CD can be purchased at MCC offices and at Ten Thousand Villages stores. A second CD is being planned for release this September.
