Canadian Mennonite University graduated 48 students at its third commencement weekend April 26–27. Convocation was held at Portage Ave. MB Church, Winnipeg. The class included those graduating with three- and four-year B.A. degrees, Bachelor of Church Ministries, Bachelor of Church Music, Bachelor of Musical Arts, Bachelor of Theology and a handful graduating with degrees conferred by one of the founding colleges.

Commencement speaker, Dr. John Redekop, long time church leader and adjunct professor of political science at Trinity Western University, Langley, B.C., emphasized the importance of a Christian university education in his address, “Where in a university is God?” He articulated how God can be found in the university’s commitment to truth, its teaching, people, practice and engagement with the world around. Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba Peter M. Liba participated in the processional and presented each graduate with a provincial pin. He stated, “Whether you realize it or nor, your education has changed your life forever and you are embarked on a journey of life-long learning.” Valedictorian Sherisse Penner gave an entertaining and insightful address that included a strong note of appreciation for the way CMU had built a vision of an integrated Christian life.
